Button Order on IP Phones
Q: How does button order matter when configuring Shared Lines and Extensions on an IP phone?
A: When picking up the handset, speaker phone, or pressing a BLF/Status Group/Speed dial line key to make a call, the first line appearance is used. If a Shared Line button is assigned to the first line key then this will be seized for all outbound calls. This is desirable when picking up the handset and making an external call. If trying to use a BLF/Status group button for a local extension, park zone, or a dial a system SPRE code, then this call would also try to route out the Shared Line. For these features, a user would first have to press the line key next to the Extension and then use the BLF line key or SPRE code.
