Default Routing question

I'm trying to change the IP and Default route of a WAN port remotely to a new IP address, I want to be able to do this remotely minimizing connectivity loss.

I know i can the new WAN IP to the WAN port by specifying it as a secondary IP address.

Would it be as simple as specifying the new gateway as another static route?

Will having multiple static routes in the running config cause issues if the first one is no longer functional?

If the first static route does not respond to ARP will the adtran make the decision to forward all traffic via the secondary IP to the second static route?

I have checked documentation and what I keep finding is using two different ports, but I only have a single WAN port to work with.
