Q&A

How does Carrier Detect (CD) operate on a DSU?

Q:

How does Carrier Detect (CD) operate on a DSU?

A:

A far end DSU will only have Carrier Detect (CD) high if the near end DSU is sending a Clear to Send (CS) signal, whether it is forced on or following a Request to Send (RS) from the DTE equipment.  CD will not be up just because the line is up.
