Re: Help with Shutdown / Restart Bluesocket vWLAN cluster steps

Don,

I can definitely help you with that question. Just for clarification, is this restarting because the servers are being moved or changed or in response to a problem? Are these controllers hardware Appliances or Virtual Machines?

Thanks,

Evan

Re: Help with Shutdown / Restart Bluesocket vWLAN cluster steps

Installing UPS and having to power down all in Data Center systems.  Just want to do a clean shutdown and restart.  These are Virtual controllers.

Thanks

Re: Help with Shutdown / Restart Bluesocket vWLAN cluster steps

Don,

The cleanest option would be to add a rule in a firewall somewhere to prevent APs from talking to the system, and then drop all clients so nothing is being written to the database at the time, then use the VMware power off option. However, it is doubtful just running through shutdown would cause a problem in the database. It would definitely make sense to take a platform backup before hand just in case.

Thanks,

Evan

Re: Help with Shutdown / Restart Bluesocket vWLAN cluster steps

There doesn't seem to be an option to do a clean shutdown on vWLAN controllers from the Web Interface of VM Console.  VMware power off is only alternative.

1) dbinit

2) ifconfig

3) processes

4) restart

5) switch

6) reboot

7) clean

😎 exit

a) admin recovery

c) certificate

i) interface

Don,

You are correct, there is not an option to shut it down through the web interface. The VM option will work fine.
