How can I display the current (working) FSU configuration so I can configure spare FSu units?

Hello.  I have been using Adtran FSU Frame Relay Service Units for many years to connect a Multitech DSU to two 8-Channel Multiplech Multiplexers on a leased 56K line.  I have some spare untis that I want to configure.  I have the user manual and am ready to configure but I can't seem to display what the current configuration is.  I am not technically trained and I don't want to "guess" at the settings but know if I can read the current settings I can do the configuration.  I have tried using the front panel but all choices for each configuration menu seems to show up the same and it isn't clear what my settings are.  Any assistance would be appreciated or any suggestion on who I might go to for assistance.  Thanks.  Neilski

Re: How can I display the current (working) FSU configuration so I can configure spare FSu units?

Hello Neilski, and thank you for using the ADTRAN Support Community Forums.

Page 51 of the PDF manual gives a break-out of the configuration menu tree. When you go into each configuration option, the option selected should be blinking. You will always see all of the available options, but the one currently selected/configured should be blinking.

I'm afraid that with the FSU there is not a way to print out the configuration, you have to go through each option and document what it is set to.

Hope this helps,

Patrick

Sorry to bother, but I tried but as I scroll all selections "blink" at the

cursor, so I still have no way to determine which selectiion/config is

being used. Thanks for helping. Neil

Re: How can I display the current (working) FSU configuration so I can configure spare FSu units?

Sorry about that. The FSU is slightly different. If it lists a numbered selection on the first line and a non-numbered option under it, then that non-numbered option is what is currently configured. If you hit ENTER on the numbered option on line one, it will take you to the second line where you can scroll through the choices for that menu item still listed on line one.

So if you go into CONFIG and then DTE PORT 1, and it shows "1) PROTOCOL" on the first line and "FRAME RELAY" underneath it, then the protocol is set to Frame Relay. When you scroll down (without hitting ENTER) to option 2, you will see "2) PHYS LYR OPTS" and "3) PROTOCOL OPTS". You will have to hit ENTER on either 2 or 3 to see how they are configured. If you hit ENTER on "2) PHYS LYR OPTS"  you will see "1) INTERFACE" with the configured option listed below it. If you hit ENTER on "1) INTERFACE"  you can then scroll through the available options for the interface. You can also scroll down and see the other Physical Layer Options and how they are configured. (These are the physical layer options for the DTE port - there are also physical layer options for the Network port in another part of the menu.)

For some menu items (such as the Frame Relay options), the currently configured option is listed to the right of the menu item. So for Frame Relay it shows "1) SIGNAL        LMI" on line one and "2) T392           15" on line two. If you hit ENTER is will then change line two to be the options for SIGNAL and you can scroll through the options.

If a menu entry is numbered but there is no option to the right of it or under it, then you have to hit ENTER on it to see additional menu items.

Again, sorry for misleading you earlier. I had to find an FSU and go through its menu to clarify the menu structure.
