physical installation about AP 160
I would like to know if I can plug AP 160 to a switch 1234 Poe or 1534 Poe and setup controller in a NV 3448 where the switches are connected ?
Thanks
Marc

Re: physical installation about AP 160
Marc:
Thank you for asking this question in the support community. Yes, this is a common application. The key configuration and design steps are presented in the Troubleshooting Connection/Setup Problems with the Netvanta 160 Wireless Access-Point guide. I have listed the highlights from that guide below:
- Dot11ap access-point-control must be turned on globally inside the AOS controller, and disabled on the other AOS devices.
- AWCP must be on in the VLAN/Ethernet IP interface you are using to control this AP.
- AWCP can only function properly in the Native VLAN.
- Note: If a layer 2 switch (or multiple switches) is installed between the AP and the controller, the native VLAN must be preserved through each trunk connecting to the AP.
- An AOS Controller must have an IP address assigned to the management VLAN/Ethernet interface being used between the AP and the controller.
- Note: If you are using a Layer 2 only switch, only a single layer 3 VLAN interface can be configured, and an AP must be able to communicate to that particular VLAN interface.
- If your AP will be carrying multiple VLANs, the controller interface connecting to the AP must be configured as an 802.1q trunk. The AP must also be configured with 802.1q encapsulation.
I hope that makes sense, but please do not hesitate to reply to this post with any additional questions or information. I will be happy to help in any way I can.
