Aggregation Link with Netgear Switch

Jump to solution

I am having a issue with link aggregation with a netgear prosafe GSM7224. (the adtran is a 1234, and I have that trunked to a 1335) I have the link up and running (2 fiber ports) but the stats keep showing symbol errors (on each of the ports and for the agg link). I found out I needed to set the LAG in the netgear as static (I read adtran does not support dynamic link agg), but there is a option in the netgear for the priority (they call it the hash type) and I am not sure what to set that to and even if that matters with the adtran. Even if I reset the stats in the adtran, symbol errors will not clear and seem to be stuck at 4294967294. Am I having an issue or is that just a bug of some sort? The netgear is not showing any errors. Thanks! - Jeremy

That random/intermittent web interface display error occurred in that version of firmware.  It is just a display error in the web interface only (it works properly in the command line), and can be ignored.  If you upgrade the unit to a newer firmware version, you will not see the errored statistics.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for asking this question in the support community.  Here is a post on Link Aggregation for future reference:

Yes, you are correct that the Netgear will have to be configured as "static" because AOS does not support dynamic link aggregation currently.  I'm not familiar with the NetGear's setting of priority or "hash type."

Are you viewing the ADTRAN's statistics from the web interface?  Can you tell me which browser you are using and what version of AOS firmware the NetVanta 1234 is running?

Software is 17.09.01.00 and I was using Firefox. But I went just now to see if it is still there and Symbol Errors is not even in the list anymore, so I guess it does not matter. Those errors may of been a carryover from when I had LACP enabled in the Netgear and the link would not work. - Jeremy

No, The issues I am having do not have to do with the Adtran. The error counter had gone away. Thanks! - Jeremy
