Link Aggregation between 1638 and ProCurve

Jump to solution

I'm trying to setup a trunk link between a 1638 and a ProCurve 8200zl using link aggregation.  When I setup the link aggregation, everything shows as being up, but I cannot pass traffic between the two switches.  Port-channel 1 shows that it is up and has a speed of 2000.  If I remove the link aggregation config from both switches and setup one of the ports on the 1638 as a trunk port, it works fine.

Here is what I have on the 1638 side:

interface port-channel 1

  no shutdown

  switchport mode trunk

  switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,64,128

!

interface gigabit-switchport 0/47

  no shutdown

  switchport mode trunk

  channel-group 1 mode on

!

interface gigabit-switchport 0/48

  no shutdown

  switchport mode trunk

  channel-group 1 mode on

!

And on the ProCurve:

trunk A7-A8 Trk2 Trunk

vlan 64

   untagged A3

   ip helper-address 10.9.0.18

   ip address 10.9.64.1 255.255.255.0

   tagged B20,Trk1-Trk2

   ip igmp

   exit

vlan 128

   ip address 10.9.128.1 255.255.255.0

   tagged B20-B22,Trk1-Trk2

   exit

Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?

Thank you for asking this question in the support community.  The ADTRAN configuration appears to be correct for a link-aggregation setup.  However, unfortunately, I can't provide many recommendations on the HP ProCurve configuration, other than I believe they are in LACP Passive mode by default (which the ADTRAN does not support).  Here is the Link Aggregation Control Protocol in AOS guide for reference.  Additional items to check are:  Does the port-channel show UP on both units?  Are both units allowing the proper VLANs over the port-channel?

Please, let me know if you have any additional information or questions.  I will be happy to help in any way I can.
