Why is it recommended to put ActivChassis Backup in middle of stack?
Adtran recommends that the ActivChassis Backup switch be located generally in the middle of the stack. So in a seven switch stack about the fourth or fifth switch. I have an existing numbering scheme for my switches that, without buying a bunch of two meter stacking cables, I can't match with VCID numbers.
If this is an important consideration I'll live with it, but nowhere can I find why they recommend that. I'm converting nine 1638s to ActivChassis stacks and need a little guidance on this.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Why is it recommended to put ActivChassis Backup in middle of stack?
I believe this is recommended only for the reasons of fault tolerance. The fewer connections between a controller and a slave switch switch, the more likely the switch can fail-over or recover to the backup.
This is even more the case when the AC is not all in the same rack or location, since the chances of a cut to an AC XIM connection are higher.
