Identifying 1st and 2nd Generation NetVanta 2000 Series Products

There are several differences between 1st generation and 2nd generation NetVanta 2000 series products that can be used to help identify them.

Part Number

Look at the part number (P/N) located on the bottom of the unit under the ADTRAN logo as shown in the picture below.



If the part number begins with 120036 it is a 1st generation NetVanta 2000 series product.

If the part number begins with 120236 it is a 2nd generation NetVanta 2000 series product.

Serial Port

The serial port on the back of the unit can also be used to distinguish the generation of the unit.

1st generation units have a male serial port:



2nd generation units have a female serial port:



Web Interface

If you do not have physical access to the unit, the layout of the web interface can also be used to tell what generation the product is.

Depending on the generation unit you have, click the “1st Generation” or “2nd Generation” folder to access knowledge base content for the corresponding product.
