Trouble routing internet

Jump to solution

We just bought a 3120 router to use with your FPL Direct Internet Access service.

Interface eth 0/1 public is configured with 69.80.66.54 and a mask 255.255.255.252.

Interface vlan1 is configured 74.115.233.65 and a mask of 255.255.255.240

I have a FortiGate 300C firewall connected to interface switchport 0/1 and the firewall is configured to use 74.115.233.66

I have the following routes configured:

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 69.80.66.53

ip route 69.80.66.52 255.255.255.252 69.80.66.53

ip route 74.115.233.64 255.255.255.240 69.80.66.54

I am not able to get to the internet from the 74.115.233.x network.

What am I doing wrong or missing?

I do not have the firewall enabled in the 3120 as I am using my FortiGate as the firewall. I want the 3120 to act as a straightforward router.

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply, but we found that the issue was with the carrier in the way they provisioned the circuit, we now have it working.

Hi erniehughes:

I don't have a simple answer; maybe someone will offer the fix for you.  In the meantime, how far can you get?  For example, what do you see when attempting a traceroute from a host behind the FortiGate firewall to an outside IP address (maybe 8.8.8.8 or something)?

I just ran a traceroute to 74.115.233.66 and I was able to reach it (69.80.66.54 was the hop before last).  Anyway, it seems like the FortiGate itself is able to get to the Internet, as my ICMP was returned during the trace.

Very best,

CJ
