NV 3430 spontaneously reboot

Hello...

Over the past two days, our NetVanta 3430 has rebooted itself. I can't seem to find the reason why. I'm receiving the following in emails from the unit:

2016.01.18 15:34:31 INTERFACE_STATUS.eth 0/1 changed state to up

2016.01.18 15:34:31 INTERFACE_STATUS.eth 0/2 changed state to up

2016.01.18 15:36:25 OPERATING_SYSTEM.EXCEPTION New exception reports detected.

Any help on this would be most appreciated.

Thank you!

Re: NV 3430 spontaneously reboot

You should open a ticket with Adtran support.  That is an OS exception, possibly a memory problem.  Sometimes these are caused by bugs in the software, so an OS upgrade could resolve it, but it could also be the result of hardware issues on the router.

Re: NV 3430 spontaneously reboot

We have a spare router for just such an occasion. I swapped it out.

Re: NV 3430 spontaneously reboot

It appears that you're running some really old firmware on this unit that is no longer supported. I highly recommend that you upgrade the firmware on the unit to the latest extended maintenance release R11.4.6. This will more than likely fix the issues as core dumps are usually a firmware issue.

Here is the guide for upgrading the firmware: Upgrading Firmware in AOS
