Netvanta UC Server 5.3.0.8128 - is there a way for voice mail application capability to send VM alert message?

Is there a way for voice mail application capability to send VM alert message instead of attaching a complete voice mail to an email?

Details:

We have Avaya PBX system.

Email message store is exchange

users get voicemail notification and attachment in outlook.
