We recently worked through a NetVanta 8044M reboot issue with ADTRAN support that turned out to be known bug. We discovered this after we had a box reboot in mid-October and then a different box at the end of December. After each occurrence I ruled out DC power loss, so I opened up a ticket with ADTRAN after the second occurrence. In a few days I was able to get confirmation that this was a known issue.
Here are some details:
- ADTRAN issue CN-15693, not currently noted in any current release notes. I've asked for it to be documented in future release notes.
- The issue relates to MAC addresses and a thread competing with another thread and it getting out of order.
- CE 5.3 and higher have the fix for this reboot bug. From what I understood from the technical support person, all previous releases, including CE 3.4, have this issue. The current release (as of January 2015) is CE 6.2.
- the "show assertions" command to show the confirmatory log output (below) is restricted to ADTRAN personnel.
