What are the DS3 Scrambler, Data Link, and Remote Auto Configuration options on a T3SU 300?
Q: What are the DS3 Scrambler, Data Link, and Remote Auto Configuration options on a T3SU 300?
A: These options in the Configuration > DS3 Network menu are for use when there is an ADTRAN T3SU 300 at each end of the circuit. If you are connected to another vendor's equipment, such as a Cisco router, at the remote site, then set the Data Link and Remote auto-configuration options to Disabled. The DS3 Scrambler may be set to a certain scrambling mode depending on the remote unit's configuration, and is discussed more fully in a seperate FAQ.
Option | Purpose and Configuration |
---|
DS3 Scrambler | When this option is set to Enabled it allows the T3SU 300 to scramble the DS3 payload data and allows the remote T3SU 300 to descramble the data. This prevents certain transport equipment from falsely reporting alarms, and is usually recommended. |
---|
Data Link | When this options is set to Enabled, the T3SU 300 provides a channel between the local and remote T3SU 300 unit for point-to-point remote configuration and performance reporting. |
---|
Remote auto-configuration | This feature allows one T3SU 300 (set to Master) to automatically relay its DTE Port bandwidth configuration to a second unit (set to Slave). To utilize this configuration option one unit must be set to Master and the other to Slave. It is not a valid configuration to have both set for Master or both set for Slave. NOTE: If a unit is set to Slave (the default setting), the DTE configuration options in that unit cannot be changed locally. It will have to rely on the Master unit. If this is not the desired mode of operation both sides should be set to Disabled. |
