New to the Adtran world, getting this on a 908e, from what I can find we need to do a software upgrade, but our phone system is a Toshiba IPedge and tech support does not recommend going above the current software level ( sorry dont have it one me)....any other issues that would give this message, it is reporting this via email even though the only item set to report is fatal errors.
We had some issues very early on with hardware defective DSPs but I haven't seen any in several years. Other than the email alert, are things working? Is it just a cosmetic bug? Which generation 908e and what firmware?
Whose tech support doesn't recommend upgrading, Toshiba or Adtran?
I've seen this type of thing where Vendor A will produce an interop guide for configuring their gear to work with Vendor B, and they'll specify a given firmware for vendor B that they tested against. Then several years later this guide is still floating around and Vendor A says, "That's what we tested against, things might break if you upgrade vendor B's software."
I can't recall a situation where upgrading Adtran AOS firmware has caused an interop failure where none existed before.
It is a 2nd Gen, software is 10.9.3 it is Toshiba support that says not to upgrade, correct it does not effect the operation but the customer requested that the notification be set up for fatal error emails, that is all it is set up for to report but the DSP errors are reported and the customer thinks that there are issues with the equipment. Can this error be "filtered" to not report on the fatal reports?

Is the TA900 is doing SIP/RTP both to the carrier and to the Toshiba PBX, and you have no PRI or analog connections? If so, it's possible that the DSP indeed isn't working but you aren't using it so it doesn't affect operation. The DSP is only used when there are TDM connections to the device such as PRI, T-1 CAS/RBS, FXS, and FXO.
I would go ahead and upgrade the TA908 to the current extended maintenance release. From a support standpoint you're kind of stuck in the middle. Toshiba won't support you if you upgrade and Adtran won't support you if you don't. I seriously doubt that a firmware upgrade will affect interop with the Toshiba PBX and an upgrade might fix the problem. You can always roll back. Save your current configuration either to a separate file in flash or offline in case you have to roll back and the newer image has syntax differences.
Warranty on the TA900 series is incredibly long. If the DSP has indeed failed, you might be able to get it replaced or repaired, but when you open a ticket with Adtran I bet they'll want you to upgrade the firmware first (which could fix the problem).
There is a PRI coming in from AT&T and FXS ports being used, andy you are correct on the stuck in the middle spot we did call on Adtran support and they also said to upgrade...is there anyway to filter the DSP report out of the "fatal" email reporting??

Save the current configuration to a file. Upgrade to the current extended maintenance release (R12.3.1). Test against the Toshiba. It should work fine. If it doesn't, open a ticket with Adtran to fix it. See if the error goes away. If so, you're done. If not, open a ticket with Adtran to fix it.
There isn't to my knowledge a means to selectively filter the email alerts.
UPDATE!!! Went to the 12.3.1 and the Adtran would not "sync" up with the phone system or the PRI circuit dropped down to the R10.9.3E and it would come up and run, it ran fine till this morning around 7:20 am and crashed again, but recovered without a full reboot, have had no issues since...We have a new 924 on site and are going to switch to it on Thursday evening/Friday and see if it runs fine........
Ran over 13 hours without an issue but crashed again a little after 10 last night.....opened a ticket with Adtran tech I am onsite with an upset customer hoping support will get back with me soon!!! I'm still not convinced its an Adtran issue but i want to make sure.
