Verizon SIP Config on 908e 3rd Gen

Jump to solution

We received the following from Verizon to set up SIP in a new router. (specific info removed)  Not sure how this translates into the Adtran command wise. We previously had this setup at another location also shown below.

Can anyone offer any guidance on what was sent by Verizon and how this should be set up in the router? Specifically, I'm not sure how the terminology translates.

Thanks!

SIP Details from Verizon:

Carrier Signaling IP: (Public IP)

Customer Signaling IP (Public IP)

Customer Signaling Port: 5070

Customer Signaling FQDN: URL

CPE IP1: (Some Public IP)

Test DID/s:Test Number

This is an existing config for SIP on another Adtran we have:

voice trunk T25 type sip

  description "SIP Trunk"

  sip-server primary ()

  sip-server rollover service-unavailable-or-timeout

  outbound-proxy primary ()

  domain ()

  codec-group ()

Pretty much as you have it but under global configuration:

sip

sip udp 5070

sip tcp 5070 ! <- This likely optional

Verizon's terminology is a bit confusing. Often they have a configuration guide of some kind. These are my guesses:

Carrier Signaling IP: (Public IP) < Likely this would be your sip-server primary below

Customer Signaling IP (Public IP) < Is this the IP of your outside interface?

Customer Signaling Port: 5070 < This is 5060 by default, see above

Customer Signaling FQDN: URL < I have no idea what this means. Did they provide a URL?

CPE IP1: (Some Public IP) < Is this the IP of your outside interface? Does it match either of the IPs above?

Test DID/s:Test Number < Program this as a voice user and connect to an FXS to test.

Outbound proxy primary, domain and codec-group can probably be left as default.

You may have to reach out to someone there with clue who can explain their terminology. They may have a sample configuration for "Brand C" that should migrate fairly well or at least give you a starting point.

voice trunk T25 type sip

  description "SIP Trunk"

  sip-server primary ()

  sip-server rollover service-unavailable-or-timeout

  outbound-proxy primary ()

  domain ()

  codec-group ()

Thanks for the Reply. As it turns out we did the activation yesterday and they did provide all the info we needed. It seems that some of what they sent us originally was not applicable to the type of setup we have.

Here is what the trunk config ended up being:

voice trunk T25 type sip

  description "SIP Trunk"

  sip-server primary (customer signaling FQDN)

  sip-server rollover service-unavailable-or-timeout

outbound-proxy primary (customer signaling IP) udp 5070

  domain (customer signaling FQDN)

codec-list 729-711 both
