Which T1 interface should I use for a PRI?

Jump to solution

I have 50+ TA9xxe in the field and they are doing SIP to PRI conversion, and all are using T1 interface 0/1 or 0/2,  no current complaints or issues that I am aware of.     Just getting conflicting information......

Total Access 9XXe - SIP to PRI sample configuration  the Sample config shows T1 interface 0/1 used (matches my deployment)

Total Access 900 900e PRI Trunk Quick Configuration Guide  the document states "In the TA 900 series, only T1 port 0/2 can be used for a PRI connection. In the TA 900e series, T1 ports 0/3 and 0/4 can be used for PRI connections"

which one is accurate?

If I should be using interface 0/3 and 0/4, why?  trying to determine if I need to revisit my existing deployments

Timothy,

Depends on what generation TA900e you have. If you have 2nd Gen (white unit) then only ports 3/4 can be used for PRI interfaces. If you have 3rd gen (Black unit) then 1-4 can be used for PRI interfaces but maximum of 2 can be configured depending on what p/n you ordered regarding number of DSPs, we sell a 30 and 60 count version.

If you do a show version it will show you have many you have like so:

Tiger#show version

ADTRAN, Inc. OS version R13.2.2.E

  Mainline Version: ENM.17.94

  P4 Changelist: 651357

  Checksum: ccd996184c9dfa18573d4fbd589120e70d648470dd614b267ba6b072e7f8dcdd
