BSAP-1800 Randomly Locks Up

Jump to solution

We have approximately 50 BSAP-1800 access points on a vWLAN installation. One access point in particular keeps locking up every couple of days and shows as being down in the vWLAN. The Access Point normally broadcasts three SSIDs in the location, and when it locks up only one SSID broadcasts and cannot be connected to. If you telnet the Access Point while it is "down", you will see this on the console:

-----------------------------------------

Bluseocket Command Line Interface (CLI)

-----------------------------------------

----------- System Status ---------------

Nothing else will load on the console session. I have tested the network drop and changed switch ports, neither of which have helped. I am suspecting client overload but cannot find any evidence in the logs to support that claim.

Thanks,

Adam

Technical Support discovered that a handful of our Access Points did not have the VLAN for the SSID in question properly trunked to the Access Point. I added the VLAN needed to the switch port and the access point has not locked up yet since.

The EtherIP tunnel created to an access point with the correct VLAN access was apparently causing the Access Point to lock up if too many users connected to the Access Point.

Adam,

Would you mind confirming which version of controller you are using and what version of AP firmware you are currently using so that I may better assist you?

nick,

The vWLAN version is 2.1.0.14 and the Access Point Firmware is 6.5.4-11.

Adam,

The best way to tell why an AP is getting into a bad state would be to physically connect a console cable to the AP and log all of its output to a file.  You would then need to submit the file to Technical Support.  With that being said, I feel this particular situation would be better handled in a support ticket.   If you open a ticket please come back to this thread after it is resolved to post the solution so others can benefit from it.  You can create one using any of the methods listed below.  Please reference the URL of this thread when opening the ticket to help provide background information to our support team.
