I am looking for a way to bypass the password on a Netvanta 818. During the boot process I get garbled output on the serial port at 9600 none and 1. Also it is not recognizing the esc key command to bypass passwords. Any thoughts on how to get there on this older Netvanta router?
I would try other speeds on your terminal emulator. Any password bypass routine is going to need console communication. It sounds like the serial port is set to a different speed. I'd try 38400, 57600, and maybe 2400 off the bat.
