PoE Controller questions 1531p, 1550p remote software upgrades

Jump to solution

I just had a 1531p fail from N-Command after a software upgrade.

I found in the forums that this model lacks a PoE controller capable of shutting down.  The fix is to physically power cycle the unit.

Does the 1550P have the same issue?  I need to upgrade several dozen of them.

Also, how would I know before trying to upgrade a device if it will require a physical powercycle?  I did not find any warnings about this in the manual, release notes, or the Adtran AOS upgrade documents.

specific error on the 1531p that failed:

#show power

2020.03.12 08:16:57 POWER_OVER_ETHERNET Failed to reset PoE controller! Error code:-3

inline

Total Power: 65.0W

Total Power Used: 0.0W

Total Power Available: 65.0W

Average Total Power Used: 0.000W

For a new device to be powered, there must be at least 19W available power.

To power a Class 4 device, there must be at least 30W available power.

'Limited' status is only valid for PoE+ devices that negotiate power using LLDP.

It is indicated when the requested power of the PD is not met.

Does the 1550P have the same issue?  No, the PoE controller has a reset pin connected on the 1550P series.

The 1531P is the only device that has this issue that I am aware.
