Netvanta 3120, How delete security zone.

Jump to solution

I created a new security zone on my Netvanta 3120, but it is  not needed, and I want to delete it.  I can't find any delete button.  I can add policies to it, or rename it, but I can't delete it.
HELP!!

Thank you

Thank you for asking this question in the support community.  Unfortunately, a firewall security zone cannot be deleted from the web interface currently.  To delete a security zone (known as a policy-class in the CLI) you will have to log in to the unit's Command Line Interface (CLI).  However, if there is an unwanted security zone configured, but not assigned to any interfaces, then it will not hurt anything to leave it in the configuration.  So, it should not harm anything if you leave it (as long as it isn't assigned to an interface).

To remove a policy-class via the CLI issue the following commands (Note: be careful when making firewall changes because it is possible to lose connectivity to the unit😞

  • At the ">" type enable
    • Enter a password if required
  • At the "#" type configure terminal
  • At the "(config)#" type no ip policy-class <name> (i.e. no ip policy-class Private)

I hope that makes sense, but please do not hesitate to reply to this post if you have any questions or additional information.  I will be happy to help in any way I can.
