Out-of-band DTMF rfc2833 on 3140

Hello. Does the Netvanta 3140 support rfc2833 out-of-band DTMF for SIP Trunking? I have enabled this option many times in Adtran 908 and so forth, but do not see the option in OS R13.2.2.

Typically, we use:   rtp dtmf-relay offer nte 101

Thanks!

are you using a 3140SBC or plain 3140. If you are using a plain 3140 this command will most likely not exist.

Thanks for the reply. This 3140 was ordered with a 25 SIP path license, but I’m not sure if it has the SBC functionality?

Platform: NetVanta 3140, part number 4700341F2#25

Serial number CFG1708457

Re: Out-of-band DTMF rfc2833 on 3140

Hy kylecci,

I've checked our 3140 with SIP license (running R13.5.1) and it doesn't have that command either. I believe that's because in an SBC environment, the 3140 passes through the SDP information fro one leg to the other, whereas in a TA900 (non SBC versions with FXS / PRI / CAS handoffs) the TA900 actually creates the SDP packet itself. As a result, the 3140 doesn't have as granular a command set as TA900 when it comes to SDP options. This being said, as long as your PBX and SIP network support and offer DTMF 2833, the 3140 should pass it through from one side to another without problems.

Hope this helps.
