My client would like to manage their 3340 router remotely instead of having to log into the local network and open the local ip of the router. Is there a way to do that?

Absolutely. If the 3340 is on the Internet, apply a "self" policy to the Public access policy. If it's behind another NAT firewall router with only private addressing you'll need to configure port-forwarding on the outside router.
- Pick a good password
- Use an access-list to lock down remote access to trusted networks.
- Best to turn off unencrypted access such as telnet and http, use ssh and https.
