3448 wireless AP discovery- usage

Jump to solution

How is the wireless AP component used on the 3448?  I have a hotel install with several ap's hardwired to a switch with a uplink to a ubiquity router providing dhcp and ssid.  Can I use the 3448 to accomplish the same thing? I have the 3448 switch segmented into two vlans, one for botel admin lan and one for the access points (customer wireless).

Thank you for asking this question in the support community.  If I understand the design, as you mentioned above, the ADTRAN unit will be able to provide the DHCP to the wireless clients, but it will not be able to provide an SSID, unless you use an ADTRAN Access Point (AP), such as the NetVanta 100 series.  Often, in a network design such as this, the APs provide the SSID, and the router (NetVanta 3448 in this case) is just used to provide DHCP, and route between the VLANs.  If your APs are capable of this wireless functionality, then the NetVanta 3448 will work.

I hope this makes sense, but please do not hesitate to reply to this post with additional questions or information.  I will be happy to help in any way I can.
