VPN Upgrade for 4305 - 1200890L2

Jump to solution

I'd like to add VPN capability to a recently installed NV4305.  It did not arrive with an EFP firmware version installed (17.05.01.00), so the Web interface does not have any VPN options on the menu.

My question is, do we have to purchase the hardware/software Enhanced Feature Pack (4200368L1), or will a firmare upgrade to a xx.xx.xx...E version suffice for basic low volume VPN functionality?  We have no need for 1000 simultaneous IPSec tunnels, so the hardware upgrade seems like it would be overkill.  Will the EFP firmware update alone provide VPN on a 1200890L2?

Thanks for your time,

-Paul

- The only way for an AOS device to have VPN capability is to have enhanced firmware (xx.xx.xx...E) loaded on the device. Since you already have the NetVanta 4305 with the standard feature pack, you will only have to purchase the Enhanced Feature Pack upgrade. Once you purchase and receive the serial number for the upgrade, you will be able to register that serial number on Adtran's website and download the enhanced firmware. Unfortunately, without the enhanced firmware, an AOS device will not have any VPN functionality.

I would recommend that you contact Adtran's Application Engineers to find out which part number you will need to order to receive the NetVanta 4305 Enhanced Feature Pack upgrade. You can contact them by sending an email to applications.engineer@adtran.com, calling 888-423-8726, or opening a webticket using the following link: https://www.adtran.com/openacase

Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanks,

Noor
