Netvanta 5305, Web GUI

Jump to solution

Hello, I don't have a lot of time to try to figure this out so I'm sorry if there is a previous post regarding my question.  I have two brand new 5305's and when I try to access the GUI using the "procedure" I am unable to connect with it.  I changed my IP, I used a Crossover, the unit never connects, it doesn't bring up the log in screen. Can anyone please let me know what it is that I'm doing wrong?

Thank you very much.

- Thanks for your posting your question on the forum!

Based on your symptoms, it appears that GUI access is not enabled. Are you able to ping the IP address of the NetVanta? If you are, then you should be able to telnet into the router and issue the following commands to enable the web interface of the 5305:

(config)# ip http server                        <- This enables HTTP access

(config)# ip http secure-server            <- This enables HTTPs access

(config)# username <USERNAME> password <PASSWORD>

The guides mentioned in the post below give further instructions on how to enable and access the web interface:

GUI Password

If you are unable to ping, telnet, or access the GUI, then you will need to console into the router to perform the bypass password procedure to gain access to the 5305. From there, you should be able to view and modify the IP settings of the 5305 and enable web interface access.  The post below explains how to bypass the password to access the 5305:

I hope this helps, but please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanks,

Noor
