Bridging Across NV6355 terminating to a MLPPP TA3000

Jump to solution

Is it possible to bridge with an MLPPP connection terminating to a NV6355 at the customer premise and the other side of the circuit terminating at the Core to a TA3000 with MLPPP cards? We have a scenario where the customer has VLANs XX and YY, and would like the VLANs extended passed the CORE to other locations for access to the same subnet without the need for routing across the MLPPP do to renumbering issues on their equipment. Please see attached drawing for clarification and let me know if more info is needed.

Thanks in advanced!

Couple of issue with this particular application:  1) Layer 2 Bridging (PPP/MLPPP) is not a "supported feature" in any of our IPBG's, (e.g. any product with a DSP).  Secondly, Layer 2 Tags are lost
across a PPP bridged link; therefore, all frames would appear as untagged on the distant end.

Why don't you use a TA 3000 T1 EFM Card - 1181409L4, and use a NV814 at the Customer Prem instead of the NV6355, that would allow you to bridge the VLAN
