we have an E1 interconected and sends out speech as the bearer capability, and not all destination equipment can handle that, some need 3.1khz... how can we change this? Thanks...
Wakawaka,
Thanks for posting! Adtran AOS units do not currently support modifying the bearer capability on an ISDN trunk. I can submit a feature request for this, but I would like more details to include in my report. Specifically, do you need this feature on carrier-facing (user role) or CPE-facing (network role) ISDN trunks? Also, are there specific devices or specific applications that require the 3.1kHz bearer capability? This additional information will help me build a case to potentially get this feature in a future firmware version.
Thanks!
David
Hey, David…
the set up is user role, facing the carrier. The equipment that we’ve tested for sure that needs 3.1khz to work properly, for some reason, is a cisco IAD2400, which is similar to the NV6355 and are looking to replace in our future deployments; don’t really know if other cisco boxes can’t handle bearer as speech.
there have been other instances that I can’t remember in detail, but have been able to solve by setting the bearer capability, some with Telmex (seems like some exchanges can’t handle speech and asked us to change it to 3.1khz), and some with customers (usually fax), where the setup is as CPE-facing, where the customer has an ISDN PBX, hope this helps, as I believe it would be very useful, as I am certain, through own experience, some equipment of major brands require 3.1khz and usually tend to ask the smaller carrier to adapt,
Regards…

Wakawaka,
I just wanted to get back with you and let you know that this has been submitted as a feature request. However, I have no timeline as to when or if this feature will be implemented in firmware.
Thanks,
David
