Adding new vvx300 phone set - Asking for User Login password?

Jump to solution

Have a 7100 system @11.3.0 firmware, and customer needed 2 new phones, so I am trying to add the Adtran vvx300 phone sets. Added the user & phone just fine. Trying to connect the physical phone now and getting a User Login (abc/ASCII)  Password request.  I tried the SIP Auth Password, but this did not work?

So, what password do I need?  I have other 7100/7060 system that have never asked for this login password before?  Can't find anything this morning on the KB.

Jim,

Here is what Option 66 should say either in the 7100 or in your external DHCP Server. Option 66 in the 7100 is "tftp-server" setting. Remember this must be done in both VLANs if you have a data and voice VLAN.

ip dhcp pool "LAN_pool"

  tftp-server ftp://polycomftp:password@10.10.10.1/Polycom

ip dhcp pool "VoIP_pool"

  tftp-server ftp://polycomftp:password@10.10.20.1/Polycom

Here is a config guide to help you configure if you have an external DHCP server

Hope that helps. let me know if you have any other questions.

Jim - you may be seeing the "install mode" of operation.  Basically in this mode you have the option of assigning a physical phone to a user, by just using the phone. Assuming the user is created which is the case, instead of associating a physical phone to the user from the NetVanta GUI, you can optionally just plug in the phone and from the phone interface, enter the user name ( extension number) and the voicemail password ( default 1234). This will associated that phone to that user which you created via the GUI.

If in your case though you have already created the user, and also associated the phone to the user as well. So I will recommend you to just go ahead and reboot the phone once more. On some VVX phone models, the phone requires another reboot to pull its already created configuration file.

thanks,

I had setup the user and assigned the MAC to the extension last night in the GUI, and I have also rebooted the phone a few times, but with no success.

However, I think I have a DHCP issue for the Polycom unit, because this 7100 unit currently only has IP706/IP712 phone sets.  So, I will have to figure out what I setup incorrectly with the Option 66 setup.
