Different ring tone for a DID call?

Jump to solution

We have an office manager who is part of the operator group. She would like a different ring tone for calls that are made to the main number and a second different ring for calls made directly to her DID number.  Is that possible.

Netvanta 7100, Polycom 650

Thanks in advance

Dan,

Polycom phones are capable of distinctive rings, but only for calls that come in on different lines. In this case, the call would be delivered to the same line either way. The best way to monitor the difference between calls is to use the ring group prefix function.

Your other option would be to do the following:

1. Create a new extension

2. Assign the new extension to the existing polycom phone.

3. Remove the user's original extension from the ring group and add the new extension to the ring group

4. Go to Menu->3. Settings->1. Basic->4. Ring Type

5. Select a ring tone for each extension.

Please reply if you have any questions
