Reject calls to voicemail instead of continuing on FMFM

Jump to solution

Currently when we use FMFM to do a Ring Extension -> Call External -> Go to Voicemail, if we hit ignore for an incoming call, or answer it when call screening is enabled, and then hang up, the call continues on the FMFM path.

If we ignore the call or reject it, we don't want it to ring our external. How do we go about doing this?

Nes,

What you have configured is the way FMFM was designed  to work.

Your first action is ring extension 2295 for 15 seconds

THEN

Ring your external phone number for 15 seconds

THEN

Go to voicemail.

You have this same scenario configured on both Internal and Everyone Contact Group.

The FMFM is designed to always follow the actions. You can't just forward or send a call to VM from your extension phone, because FMFM is your VM Call Behavior. It will always go to your  "Ring External" Action if you don't answer/ or press Reject/ or press Ignore from your extension phone. That is whole purpose and reason of FMFM, to try and locate you.

I hope that makes sense.

Can you post the configuration of a sample voice user?

From CLI do the following command with XXXX as user extension

Show run voice user XXXX

Then past it in forum, you can replace/change numbers/passwords if you want to protect them.

Re: Reject calls to voicemail instead of continuing on FMFM

I understand what you are saying, but the functionality is not logical. If I reject a call, it should go to voicemail, or to a specific action if you guys want it to be configurable.

FMFM's purpose is to try and locate me and let me answer the call on that specific device. If I reject a call though, I am taking an action that should tell FMFM, I do NOT want to continue, and to send it to voicemail. This is the way other phone systems that I use behave, and what I would expect from any other system.

I understand your view point. Can you let us know what other phone system does this so we can look into it.

One thing I recommend you do is submit a feature request so that other people can vote on it, you can do that from here:

Sorry I was not able to resolve your problem.
