Voice Light on Front of 900e?

Jump to solution

Hello,

Is there any Adtran guide that shows what the different colors and states of the voice light on the front of the unit can be? I have seen it blink green when ringing, I have seen it stay solid red, and I have also seen it stay solid green. What do these and other color / states represent?

Indicators

Standard models - non "-e"

  • Status - Flashing green during boot. Solid green in normal operation.
  • Power - Solid green with AC power applied.
  • Voice - Blinking amber when loading DSP on boot. Green if DSPs in use. Otherwise dark.
  • Data - Green when unit is passing data traffic.
  • Net - Green when T1 0/1 is physically and logically up. Red if down. Dark if interface is administratively shut down.
  • DSX-1 - Green when T1 0/2 (PBX/PRI) is physically and logically up. Red if down. Dark if interface is administratively shut down.
  • Link - Amber when Ethernet is connected.
  • TD/RD - Blinking green with ethernet activity.

Enhanced models "-e"

  • Status - Flashing green during boot. Solid green in normal operation.
  • Power - Solid green with AC power applied.
  • Voice - Blinking amber when loading DSP on boot. Green if DSPs in use. Otherwise dark.
  • Data - Green when unit is passing data traffic.
  • Net 1 - Green when T1 0/1 is physically and logically up. Red if down. Dark if interface is administratively shut down.
  • Net 2 - Green when T1 0/2 is physically and logically up. Red if down. Dark if interface is administratively shut down.
  • Net 3 - Green when T1 0/3 is physically and logically up. Red if down. Dark if interface is administratively shut down.
  • Net 4 - Green when T1 0/4 is physically and logically up. Red if down. Dark if interface is administratively shut down.
  • LAN 1 - Amber when Ethernet 0/1 is connected. Blinks with activity.
  • LAN 2 - Amber when Ethernet 0/2 is connected. Blinks with activity.

Fiberman,

I marked the correct answer above, but I also wanted to give you a link to a guide which goes over the LED definitions for all ADTRAN OS products.

LED Indicator Definitions for AOS Based Products

Thanks!

The voice LED's illuminate, when analog calls are placed thru the unit. If you get a flashing Red LED, that is iindicative of a fault condition and a fault condition would be caused by these type of events:

  1. TIP and RING are shorted , i.e. wire is connected to a different tip or ring. This could

occur, either from the analog loop wiring, a x-connect or internal wiring of the 66 block

that is shorted, or even possibly an analog cable that has a short.

  1. An over voltage condition whereby an external transient voltage is accessing a loop.
  2. There are other reasons but they are usually extremely in frequent

It is possible for an analog port to become damage by prolong exposure to the 2 reasons above.

Or to have become damaged by a power spike or surge that travels down the analog loop back to the unit.

To troubleshoot, access the unit, and from the CLI , do a "sh event ", which should tell you which pairs are incurring a fault condition. To determine if it is the unit or if it is the wiring, disconnect the Aphemol cable, and then place a call to the number/numbers associated with the ports that were displaying the fault condition. If the light still goes RED with the amphenol disconnected the problem will be hardware related and the unit would need to be replaced. If the LED does not turn Red I would check your internal wiring, including amphenol and 66 block.
