Simple routing to internet

Jump to solution

I have a 4305 Netvanta I'm trying to test as a router to the internet (cable modem with with 1 static ip). I need to use the ethernet ports only, not the T1 interface. I have plugged the cable modem side into ETH 0/1 and a computer into the ETH port 0/2. I have set the ETH 0/1 to the static ip assigned (74.181.81.66), set the subnet(255.255.255.252)  and gateway (75.189.81.65). I have set the ETH 0/2 side to a private lan ip 192.168.6.1/24. I have set up a computer and plugged into ETH 0/2. The computer has a 192.168.6.100/24 with a gateway 192.168.6.1 and DNS of 192.168.6.1 and 4.2.2.2. I set up both ETH's as IPROUTING. Doesn't work. What else needs configuring? I have added a default rt of 0.0.0.0 to the 74.181.81.65.

THanks a bunch,

BUC

Thank you for asking this question in the support community.

To set the unit up as an Internet router, one thing you did not mention above is covered in step six (page 10) "Using the Firewall Wizard to Setup Internet Connection Sharing NAPT" in the guide Configuring Ethernet Broadband Access in AOS.

Also, here is a video on Configuring Internet Access (Many to one NAT) with the Firewall Wizard in AOS which may be helpful.

Please, let me know if you have any additional questions.  I will be happy to help in any way I can.
