adtran AOS 18.01.01 BGP won't peer with Cisco 2921 BGP Ios 15.0(1r)M1

My adtran 5305:

won't peer up with my cisco router.

I am getting a "malformed packet" from the Adtran according to Cisco TAC. 

here is the  BGP config on the adtran:

router bgp 64522

  no auto-summary

  no synchronization

  redistribute connected

  neighbor 10.69.160.1

    no default-originate

    soft-reconfiguration inbound

    remote-as 64522

  neighbor 152.187.62.229

    no default-originate

    route-map LA_TO_MPLS out

    soft-reconfiguration inbound

    remote-as 65000

@doug-ami - I would recommend upgrading your firmware to the latest maintenance release (R10.9.4 at the time of this post). If you are still experiencing issues, please reply to this post with the output to "debug ip bgp" and "show ip bgp neighbor".
