IP706 and older Netvanta 7100

Jump to solution

OK, I have a customer that has a Netvanta 7100 that was 2 years old with 12 IP706 phones.  Worked well until yesterday when we rebooted the device.  Then we could not get out of bootstrap.  Called Adtran and they told us there was a hardware issue and we had to send the unit in.

Well because this is a good customer of mine I called our Account Manager at Adtran and found another Adtran customer that had an older unit on his shelf that I could use till we get our customers repaired or replaced.

All went well until we tried to config the IP706 phones. Apparently, the older Netvanta doesnt have native support for the IP706.

My question is, how can I get these phones to work with this version of the Netvanta 7100 until our customer can get the permanent box back?

Here is the "sho ver" on the old Netvanta we are using to get us through this hurdle.

ADTRAN, Inc. OS version 14.01.00.E

Boot ROM version 12.04.00

The first thing would be to upgrade this system to at least A2.04. L1 part numbers are restricted past that version, but that will at least get you to support for those phones.

Well, I have been waiting on the person from Adtran to send it to me for about 5 days now, since I cannot download it straight from the web.

Maybe you can point me in the write direction to download it?

Will I have to update the boot loader code as well at this time?

Service Request RQST00001574213

Matter of fact the original unit just shipped back to Adtran this morning for repairs. So this one is needed for about 3-4 weeks.

I think it would be best to work this from the existing ticket. If the solution is more involved than an upgrade to A2.04, I'll post that here.
