I have an exec assistant that wants to know if we can forward her bosses calls to her extension only when he is on the phone?
I know I can use the UC Client and forward unanswered calls to another extension or a cell phone.
But, I can not find anything about just forwarding if the line is busy.
Suggestions?
If they are using a Polycom phone there is a forward when busy option that can be enabled from the phone locally. To enable this go to Menu > Features > 1. Forward > 3. Busy. You will see “Contact:” on the screen. Then enter the extension the calls need to be forwarded to and select the “Enable” softkey at the bottom of the screen. If this needs to be disabled in the future go back to Menu > Features > 1. Forward > 3. Busy and select the “Disable” softkey at the bottom of the screen.
Thanks,
Matt

Sadly, it couldn't be that easy. We are using Adtran IP706 phone. I did not see any feature like that in the menus
The IP 700 does not have a forward if busy option. I don't know if this would work for you, but you could use a DND key and have the user press it when they are on the phone and don't want extra calls to come in. Then you could use the client to route the unanswered calls to someone else while the phone is in DND mode. To add the key go to Menu > 2.Phone Settings > 0.Misc > 4.DND Shortcut > Edit softkey > use the arrow to highlight On > Select softkey > OK softkey.
Thanks,
Matt
One more thing I wanted to add, is that if you are using a BCS or a standalone NetVanta 7100, there is an option to forward when busy that can be set from the following screen:

We actually did have an Plantronics phone that was not being used, so I was able to re assign it to the executive who requested this.
Thanks for the help
I really hate trying to setup polycom phones
I am trying to do this with a polycomm ip450
I finally found the default setup pasword
but I can't get the phone to factory reset. Anyone know the correct key sequence? I have seen like 3 different sets online.
A great guide to go by is this document, go to last page and you will see this:
If you can’t see image the key sequence is 1,3,5,7

the troubleshooting doc doesn't help cause I am using a UC server not a 7000.
I tired the sequence and it says it reset, but it comes up with an old extension and won't allow me to make phone calls.
Two things to check, in your UC Server , open up the UC Client Application and go to Phones in the Navigation Pane and then make sure the Polycom MAC address is not listed there. if you find it, delete it.
Then open up Windows Explorer and check your FTP directory, default is C:\inetpub\ftproot and make sure the MAC.cfg file is not in there. If so delete it.
reboot the Polycom IP 450 and make sure you watch the display on the phone, when booting you will see a CANCEL button, press it, then you will see a welcome text and countdown timer and a setup button, hold down 1,3,5,7 and you should get prompt for password, enter 4,5,6.
This is the best way to default a phone.
When the phone comes up, it should come up as UnCfg.
If that doesn't work, then you will need to do a packet capture from your UC Server to verify that it is getting the FTP requests from the phone. YOu can use wireshark for that. Then post the capture here.

My apologies for taking so long to get back to this...kind of fell off the radar. I tried the steps above and they did not work. But, what I was able to do is log into the embedded Gui on the polycom 406 and that is where the extension and all was hard coded into the phone. I changed it to my extension and also made sure that the phone was created in UC client and assigned to my name and extension. All looks good till I goto make a phone call and I get URL call is disabled. I figure this is a setting on the phone either on the phone or in the web gui. Suggestions on where I can find it?
Thank you for your patience and help!!!
You were not able to default the phone?
What is a Polycom 406?
Earlier in the thread you said you had a IP 450.
Just trying to clarify.
I just tested this on an IP 430, when you see the “waiting to initialize” screen hold down 1,3,5,7 and then you will prompted for the passcode and enter 4,5,6 The phone will then reboot and come up as UnCfg
You need to default the phone to make sure the ECS sees the phone.
URL Call is disabled means that the phone is not able to register to the ECS.
