Hi, we have some Polycom IP650 that I can't seems to update the directories. Does anyone have any ideas?
I've updated in other directories Entry on each phones under IP Phone configs, I've updated it under IP phone globals, I've tried to reboot the phones and reboot the phone system with no luck. Does anyone have any ideas what else I need to try?
Thanks!
Matt,
That was it! Thank You! I had to change option 66 in the server from VLAN 2 ip of phone system to VLAN 1 ip of phone system so the phone can talk to the phone system on phase 1 of dhcp and full the files, before it boot to VLAN 2.
Did you go to IP Phone Configs and select all the phones, and then to “Other Actions” and then select “Update Directories”. Then you will have to reboot the phones.
-Mark
Yes, I’ve did that.

What AOS version you running and what version is your Polycom IP 650
Do you have any other Polycom phones that are working with the directory?
-Mark
4.0.x 2345-12600-001 - Polycom Phone Firm Ware
R10.11.0.E
All the phones are about the same, the directory is just a bit off.

FTP into the 7100 and look at the MAC-direcotry.xml and verify that it has the same directory as the ip phone globals directory,
If that matches, then the phone should be downloading that. Run debug ip ftp-server on 7100 and verify that the phone is grabbing that config.
If it is and still wrong,
Default the phone, reboot the phone, when the phone comes up you will see cancel button, press it, then when you see count down timer hold down keys 4-6-8-*
Then when prompted for password enter 456, after phone boots up check directory.
-Mark
Hi Mark, I did all this. Now when the phone boots up it says network down.
This is the error on the debug I’m getting.

What network is this? 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0
Is the 7100 still using the default networks? 10.10.10 and 10.10.20?
-Mark
192.168.1.0 – is the default VLAN.
No.
192.168.1.80

10.10.20.1

Your response got all messed up. If you replied via email it does that. Go to the website of forum and put your info.
Can you put the sh run config on here. I need to see your DHCP pools and your VLAN configuration.
-Mark
Mark,
The DHCP pool - default vlan - vlan 1 is being assigned by the Windows Server.
vlan 2 - VOIP vlan - is being assigned by the 7100
Port 13 on the 7100 - is connected to vlan 1 switch (we have it set for VLAN 1 only traffic)

1. What was our response when you checked this:
FTP into the 7100 and look at the MAC-direcotry.xml and verify that it has the same directory as the ip phone globals directory,
If that matches, then the phone should be downloading that. Run debug ip ftp-server on 7100 and verify that the phone is grabbing that config.
2. Run the following debug on the 7100
Debug ip ftp-server
3. Reboot phone
Enter out put.
-Mark
Other question is what do you have option 66 set to in the customer’s Windows DHCP server.
-Mark
Matt,
That was it! Thank You! I had to change option 66 in the server from VLAN 2 ip of phone system to VLAN 1 ip of phone system so the phone can talk to the phone system on phase 1 of dhcp and full the files, before it boot to VLAN 2.
Glad you got it working.
We actually cover how to do your very application in our ATSP/UCAS certification class.
Have a great weekend.
