BSAP-1920 won't auto negotiate to 1G

Jump to solution

I have a BSAP-1920 that is connected to an Adtran 1538 switch, and being configured via an off site controller. The switch is set to auto negotiate, and when the switch and access point are rebooted, they only negotiate to 100/Full never to 1G/Full. When the switch is set to 1G/Full, the access point never comes active.

Check the cable including patch panels and jumpers between the AP and the switch. In some cases only two pair are wired to save cost. This works for 100Mbps connections but gigabit requires all four pairs.

Test your AP cable Ethernet link with a device that you know will negotiate to 1G, such as a laptop.

Seems the cable tester wasn't used on this run, open connection..
